Express Entry system is an online immigration system used by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to manage and process Permanent Residence Applications received under three economic programs- Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trade Program, Canadian Experience Class and portion of Provincial Nominee Programs are aligned with Express Entry.
Those who wish to immigrate to Canada via Express Entry must meet the specific requirements of one of the three economic Programs- Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trade Program, Canadian Experience Class.
Eligible candidates in one of the three economic programs create Express Entry profile and enter in the Express Entry Pool of candidates with active profiles, waiting for invitation to apply for Permanent Residence. The number of profiles in the pool changes daily as Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conduct draws, new candidates creates their profiles, while others leave the pool due to expiry of profile, change in eligibility and those who receive an invitation to apply. Express Entry Pool is an area where all the Express Entry Candidates reside waiting for invitation to apply for Permanent Residence. Candidates in the pool are ranked against each other based on their age, education, experience, language ability and other factors. Those who are eligible for the three economic programs can also opt to apply through Express Entry for the Provincial Nominee Program, gaining extra points if nominated.
